Mount Isa Facilities
Schmider Engineering Group boasts one of the
best and most comprehensive workshop facilities in the north-west Queensland region - second only to Mount Isa Mines' main workshop complex.
The group are proud to contribute to their local economy by providing employment to an average of 150 personnel covering a variety of engineering disciplines. The Mount Isa complex
covers over 20,000 square metres and includes:
Boiler Shops Over 2,250 square metres of covered workshop area dedicated to primary boilermaking and another 300 square metres covered workshop area for
secondary boilermaking and processing. The boiler shop is fully equipped to enable a wide variety of fabrication work to be undertaken. Equipment includes 100, 200 and
400T presses, 2.4m x 25mm plate rollers, horizontal press, section rollers, radial arm drills, furnace, cropper and plate guillotine, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, TIG and MMAW
welding machines, plasma cutters, profiling machine and the largest stress relieving furnace in the north-west of Queensland.
Machine and Fitting Shop A 600 square metre fully enclosed workshop is used for machining and fitting purposes. Equipment includes 100T presses, various capacity lathes,
milling machines, vertical slotting machine, various capacity horizontal borers, powder spray machine, arc spray machine, and various fitting equipment.
Sandblasting and Painting Facility The Mount Isa complex operates a fully enclosed and licenced sandblasting and painting facility.
